Happy New Year everyone!! Getting ready for the Rio to Antigua delivery of the Andrews 70 ‘Runaway’ and some big news…I’ve sold my S&S 34 and am in the process of upgrading/purchasing a successor design also by Sparkman & Stephens – the Swan 38 which was drafted four years later.
This is the extrapolation of the vastly successful S&S 34 – which in her own right has five nonstop solo circumnavigation records to credit – including references for the youngest solo and first double nonstop circumnavigations.
This was always my dream boat with hydrodynamic advancements with her underbody (keel and rudder), additional waterline and yet still a 50% ballast ratio and the many qualities which empowered the S&S 34 to her spate of world circumnavigation records.
I’m in a unique position to enable this transition process – thus Swan 38 ‘Gitana Banou 2’ is going to be my home-base of upcoming operations for world cruising and RTW performances such as (Sydney Hobart races and records;) !
I intend to attack multiple world records as well as incorporate a larger one design class for the Swan 38 into the ‘MOD’ ‘Monohull One Design’ Solo Circumnavigation Race in 2019…
