Just to re-cap the fact that 2011 saw the absolute world speed record shattered – here’s crew-man Brian Thompson’s 3-minute video of the 45-day lap!   I remember it well as we had left Adelaide to Perth for a 10-day delivery and the ‘Banque Populaire’ team had just gone from France to west Australia in 17-days before spanning Auz in a scantily clad two days…unreal!

Back in 1989, the record reference for the first around the world in under 80-days was Bruno Peyron’s 79-circuit and now his brother Loick Peyron has almost cut that in half!  What other sporting discipline can claim to have doubled its speed in such a time-frame?  …Enjoy Brian’s clip below and go full screen so you can feel the spray in your face @ 40-knots speed ; )
